Presidents’ Day 2025 is celebrated on Monday, February 17. It is an annual holiday on the third Monday in February. Although officially called Washington’s Birthday, the 1968 Uniform Monday Holiday Act included celebrating Abraham Lincoln on this holiday as well as George Washington. However, the official name of the holiday was not changed.

The holiday falls between the two president’s birthdays—Lincoln’s birthday on February 12 and Washington’s birthday on February 22.

George Washington led the Continental Army to victory over the British in the war for independence. Washington was sworn in as the first president on April 30, 1789, in New York City. A biography can be found at George Washington’s Mount Vernon.

Abraham Lincoln became the 16th president in 1861, led the country through the Civil War and was re-elected in 1864. His biography can be found at  MIller Center – Abraham Lincoln.
