With the current fires in the Los Angeles area there is an overload of sensational images and headlines. Numbers of acres, wind speeds, numbers evacuated, and, unfortunately, those that perished are all splashed on screens and pages. To anyone who is looking at their burned-out home everyone says, “The important part is we are safe. We can replace things.”
While true, it is easier said than done. Entire towns have been devastated—not small towns, either. The famous drive along the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) in Malibu and then along the canyons from the beach to the hills will have the scars of these fires for years.
The cameras and headlines may soon be gone, but I’m proud to be a part of the financial sector that will be there months and years after the fires. I am confident that most of our fellow insurance community will respond well and help the towns and these individuals rebuild.
Rebuilding will be measured in years not months. Community centers, schools, food stores, restaurants, etc. are all gone. Thousands of residents will be moving to new communities.
All of us at e2Value work hard every day to help homeowners and businesses make plans for the financial impact of such events. We stand ready to help our clients, their clients, as well as companies we don’t work with, and average homeowners in any way we can with our small part of this. From these fresh wounds of the LA fires to the recent floods in the Southeast, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc., we work every day to help lessen the financial impact of these events. Even if you only need a person to talk to, please feel free to reach out.
In the meantime, here are some organizations that will be there for all of the recovery journey:
